Description
Really cool cap such as those often worn by Zouave units in the Union army during the Civil War. This one is made of red felt and has a black tassel on the top. The top crown center has a New York state seal coat sized button affixed and the body is reinforced with braided split wicker webbing as often found in the sweat bands of wartime caps. Bargain priced!
The button is marked “Superior Quality” which is a correct wartime backmark, but the cap could be an early veteran item–difficult to determine unless they come with more history so priced accordingly.
