Description

Exceptional 6th plate tintype (in full case image) of a young soldier and his wife and child.  He is seated, wearing a 9-button frock coat and holding his M1842 musket with bayonet and sling in his right hand.  The name inside the case is John McTorsney and records indicate:

Residence Vienna, Indiana; Enlisted on 8/19/1862 as a Private.
On 8/19/1862 he mustered into "B" Co., 93rd Indiana Infantry.
He died of disease as POW on 10/3/1864 at Andersonville, Georgia

Buried: Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, GA
Gravesite: 10245
