Description
I have no idea why someone would replace the stock on a Civil War weapon like this, but that is what somebody had done. This is a standard P1853 Tower Enfield chambered in .577 and dated 1862 that has been altered by putting the metal in a NEW piece of wood!
The work is well executed and if a living history person wanted to carry an authentic Civil War gun, here it is. Again, all metal parts other than the ramrod, a later type ladder sight and a few screws, everything else is ORIGINAL Civil War! Priced accordingly—would be a great addition to any collection for display.
A modern reproduction costs around $1,850….
