Description

This is a very solid example of the M1863 .58 rifled musket as altered in 1866 by the Springfield Armory to .50 caliber centerfire.  The bore is near mint and all metal parts are crisp and bright with clean markings.  The wood likewise is fine overall and it has an interesting inlay near the buttstock.  Technically called a “Short” Type II, the Flayderman number is #9A-357.  pproximately 25,000 were manufactured but less than 12% in two band rifle length.

This is a very scarce variation which would look great in an advanced Springfield rifle collection!
