Description
The standard bore on the P53 Tower Enfield pattern weapons was 0.577 but several thousand were manufactured specifically for export early in the Civil War in the standard US .58 caliber.
This beautiful example has crisp markings, tight action and a very strong bore. All markings, including those of the exporter to the South, Sinclair Hamilton Company, are very clear and crisp.
There is a visible very old crack near the lockplate area as shown that was professionally repaired very long ago. If you want an early War example in fine condition, you have found it!
