Description
Really interesting find made in a known camp of Virginia and South Carolina troops in Fredericksburg, Virginia several decades ago. It is a half penny token issued by the Bank of Montreal in the Mexican War era (1844) and was lightly cleaned half a century ago ! Was it carried by a veteran of the Mexican War? A Canadian who happened to enlist? Dropped by a trader or merchant? Guess nobody will ever really know, but it’s a pretty cool find for sure!
