Description

Halfmann & Taylor of Montgomery, Alabama, were prominent Civil War-era military outfitters who supplied high-quality, English-imported, two-piece brass buttons for Confederate officers and infantry. These buttons, often featuring gilded finishes, were imported from Great Britain, rather than manufactured by the firm, and are highly sought after by collectors.

These are 26mm, two-piece convex buttons typically featuring an eagle, commonly identified as Albert# CS-1-A-2 or Tice CS201A4.

While most known examples of this massive and beautiful button are non-dug (typical retail $1,250), this one has a verbal history of being found in a camp near the battlefield of Wyse Forks, commonly called the “other” Battle of Kinston, NC !
