Description
This is a beautiful and well made example of a Mexican bowie knife circa 1820, pre-Alamo and Texas Revolution era. The blade was once part of a very early sword that has been cut down and shaped well, still showing the lined fullers of a weapon that predates 1800. It is a classic and well recognized form of the type of personal weapons carried by both Mexican AND Texican citizen soldiers. The family history notes it was carried by an ancestor who fought in the Texas Republic Army but no other specific and documented evidence is known.
