Description
This is a very solid example of the early issue M1858 canteen as used by Union forces. It retains the original chain, stopper and the wide strap with tinned buckle generally associated with mounted troops. There has been some minor loss of fabric due to insect damage but overall the canteen is sound and looks fantastic in a display. Sky blue covers are relatively scarce compared to the brown and tan types.
