Description
This is near the FINEST example of this type of weapon I have yet to see. Dated 1850, this .69 caliber smoothbore weapon is in pure ARMORY BRIGHT condition overall and has the distinctive “Z” marking in the wood above the triggerguard, which is the Confederate Richmond Armory rework inspection stamp used 1861-62. Likely manufactured at the armory in Richmond, Virginia utilizing parts captured at Harpers Ferry, this weapon was tuned and tweaked and then sent out for use–but clearly didn’t see much, as it is flat out near MINT overall. Few any nicer on the planet….
