Description

Incredibly impressive and quite massive Confederate clip point bowie knife made in the style of those generally from Alabama early in the Civil War years.  With a blade measuring a bit over 15.5″ and a width of well over 2″, this is one of the largest original examples known.  The original leather sheath is cross hatch carved and the belt loop is missing on the reverse.  The oblong oval grip and raised quillion all indicate Alabama origins, although some examples from Mississippi as well as Georgia are similar.  The grip shape is unique to these particular forms.  Mounted in iron and hand forged, it is more likely to be a privately made item than an arsenal produced weapon.  If you want a Rebel knife that is BIG and BAD, look no further.  Exceptional overall condition, too.
