Description

This is a fine condition and well documented example of a standard issue Civil War Confederate Two-Piece campsite/battlefield dug and mated Leech & Rigdon style waist belt plate set.  It measures 79mm x 50mm, weighs 3.20 oz. and is made of high copper content sand cast brass. The tongue of this buckle was dug in Houston, Texas and the wreath was dug in Spring Hill, Tennessee.  This same plate set was formerly in the collection of noted collector and author Steve Mullinax and is illustrated as No. 6, Plate 44 of Stanley S. Phillips primary classical reference work Excavated Artifacts From Battlefields and Campsites of the Civil War.  If you want a dead REAL one for your collection, look no more!
