Description
This beautiful coin is the last of the American Civil War era and has a crisp date of 1865 with a reverse of “S” for the San Francisco mint. It was found in the effects of a Civil War officer from Ohio who saw service in the western theatre–this could have been part of his last “pay.” The coin is in near fine condition overall with some tiny scuffs you can see in the images, perhaps where it was tested at some point to be sure it wasn’t counterfeit.
This is a great and SOLID addition to any Civil War collection and a real piece of HARD CURRENCY!
