Description

First one of these on leather I have even seen in 25+ years…FRESH from a home in eastern NC.  Kerksis #161 plain oval US buckle circa 1810-1830 on a very Confederate looking belt with a very Confederate looking no-rivets cap pouch–could be pre-War militia, but as honest as they come!  Note the thin pebble grain to the leather belt, which never had a brass keeper, the tapered end to the belt itself and the super thin leather used on the cap pouch and the lack of rivets on the wax thread sewn loops–also, the vent pick slot is on the LEFT side.  Could be pre-War militia, but for sure SOUTHERN and very likely used in the Civil War.
