Description
Nice solid example of this very popular soldier’s weapon with the 6″ barrel. This .31 caliber percussion revolver is all matching and retains a great amount of the original cylinder scene. It has the Hartford barrel address, which is a bit more uncommon than the New York address. The action is stiff from sitting up somewhere for many decades in an Ohio estate and the varnish on the grips is far above average. A generous amount of original silver plate on the trigger guard assembly is visible but there is enough wear to tell this old pistol was carried and used!
None of the M1849 Pocket Colts were purchased by the US military directly but tens of thousands were used by officers and enlisted men in the field. Wish this one could talk! The only thing on it that is not original is the loading lever plunger screw.
