Description
Once in the collections of famed collectors and authors Harold Peterson and Robert “Bob” Abels as well as William Guthman, this fine example of hand made pure Americana surfaced over 70+ years ago in Connecticut at an estate sale. With a wonderful turned maple awl style grip and 11.5″ spearpoint hand forged iron blade, this beautiful 100% American weapon dates from 1750 to around 1770. Miraculously, somehow even the original deer hide sheath has stayed with it for over 200+ years! The hand forged iron blade measures about 1.25′ at the ricasso and is double edged with an even median ridge. The simple “S” shaped iron guard is decorated at the tips with arrowhead finials If you ever wanted a 100% bonafide American knife from the Revolutionary War era, you simply won’t find a better example.
