Description
This fierce and extremely sharp weapon is classified as an American cuttoe, or short sword, and dates as early as 1760 and no later than 1770 in form, construction and style. Many collectors also consider this form to be a naval dirk. It was once in the noted collection of George Neumann who published several books on Revolutionary War weapons. Overall condition is good to very good. I was told the exact sword is pictured in one of Neumann’s reference books, but as I do not have a copy of all of them, I cannot verify that at this point in time.
