Description

This sword is devoid of blade etching and the type of blade and scalloped edge throat washer indicates it was likely sold by Henry Sauerbier of Newark, New Jersery early in the Civil War years.  It is a no-frills type that retains most all the original grip leather as well as the wire wrap.  This pattern is typical of what the lower rank officers would purchase for use in the field.
