Description

A very nice overall example of the standard infantry workhorse of the Union Army, the .58 Springfield. This example is mechanically fine and has a wonderful smooth overall age patina. All markings are strong and there are solid government inspector marks. This weapon has no replaced parts and even has the original ramrod. The beauty of this weapon is it is VERY early war, so it saw a lot of the elephant. Overall, it shows honest field use and wear but it clearly was well cared for. Examples like this are not common anymore, no doubt. Solid, honest infantry weapon. When dated 1861 or 1862, the Springfield rifle musket is a tough one to find in decent condition.
