Description

Very nice, honest and authentic US Model 1841 Navy Cutlass as manufactured by NP Ames, Cabotville, Massachusetts in 1842 (second year of production). Brass simulated fishscale grip with wide guard and forward turned quillion. All markings crisp and clear. This example surfaced in northwestern Florida right from an old estate–could have easily seen Confederate service during the Civil War. Blade is smooth and mottled gray with one nice combat looking chip near the end (shown in images). This is a very heavy and functional combat fighting battle sword and early dated examples are not readily available in most markets.
