Description

Manufactured in early 1864, this example is serial number 111,562 and is very crisp — the action is almost like new. It has a fine bore, strong markings and retains well over 40% original blue finish overall. The frame has military inspector marks but there is no cartouche in the grips, which is typical for 1864 production weapons that were sold to the US regular army en masse. The metal is smooth and the grips are free of chips or cracks. This is a well above average condition US cavalry weapon as used in the Civil War and into the early Indian Wars era as well.
