Description
Nice example of a standard contract M1860 as manufactured in Chicopee, Massachusetts in 1865 by Ames. At some point in time the tip was broken as well as the drag and the blade was repointed—the scabbard was simply crimped over as you can see. Clear markings. The iron sheath was painted black with gold bands, typical of items displayed in Grand Army of The Republic (GAR) halls. Bargain priced.
