Description
Super honest battle used infantry weapon that just surfaced in Wisconsin at an estate sale. It was manufactured by Charles B. Hoard and made in Watertown, New York. A total quantity of 12,800 were produced under direct US Government contract. The lock surface and all metal parts are a dusky gray brown unmolested finish. The markings “EAGLE” and” U.S. / WATERTOWN and the date “1863”are very sharp on the lockplate, which functions perfectly. The barrel is marked “VP / EAGLE but the date is not visible. The .58 bore has good rifling and has a semi-bright finish. The stock is a dark walnut and in very good condition and is marked with a cartouche on the left side. The rear sight is complete and functional. The ramrod is original and complete.
