Description
First Model Merrill cavalry carbine #11,xxx as pictured. Mechanically crisp with strong markings and a decent bore. This weapon was patented in Baltimore, Maryland in July, 1856 and saw considerable use during the Civil War. One of the favorite carbines of Union cavalry, the weapon was known for accuracy and dependability in the field.
This particular weapon, according to Springfield Research Service data, indicates possible use and issue to the 14th Kansas Volunteer Cavalry based on the known issued serial numbers.
