Description
Original tintype set in carte de visite stock card of Pvt. Henry Cooper who served in Company A and F of the 17th North Carolina Infantry from May 1, 1861 until he deserted November 1, 1862. Henry was captured at Fort Hatteras, NC, on August 29, 1861 and confined at Fort Columbus, NY then Fort Warren, Massachusetts until paroled and exchanged Feb. 20, 1862. Born in Martin County, NC, this image was taken near Weldon, NC in 1861.
