Description

Very fine example of the standard issue enlisted pattern Model 1860 Light Cavalry sword with original scabbard.  Original leather grip and wire wrap. Clear and crisp maker marks and date and inspector initials.  This sword exhibits a wonderful original unmolested brown age patina and overall is a very solid original example of the sabre carried into battle by Union mounted forces. Henry Mansfield and Estus Lamb produced swords in the village of Forestdale, Rhode Island and this sabre was one of 37,500 edged weapons produced for the U.S. Ordnance Department by the firm during the Civil War.
