Description
An incredible find and fresh from an estate in Virginia, this scarce pattern is the infantry #2 pattern of Tower Enfield rifle, Pattern 1856, often called the #2 style. The upper band is affixed with a stud for a sword bayonet.
This weapon has solid markings, crisp action and a decent bore as well as very clear Confederate import stamps of Sinclair, Hamilton and Company. It is overall as honest as they come and retains a pleasing age patina overall.
This gun is also number stamped on the lower buttstock, indicating it was part of a shipment of 100 bar on bands in 1861. This pattern of Enfield was a very small production compared to the standard P53 and P56 models and only a few thousand were ever produced.
If you are seeking unique, rare, honest AND CONFEDERATE—well, here it is.
