Description
Original banknote hand signed and dated from New Bern, NC, as found in a local estate. The Bank of Commerce was still in business during the Civil War and was broken into by Union forces who took thousands of notes and sent them back home as souvenirs! The currency still had value at the end of the War, unlike Confederate central government currency.
