Rare first year of the War model sword that clearly saw action! The blade is dated 1861 and it is an Ames, but the markings on the other side need some cleaning to be clear—and I don’t clean ‘em. This old war horse item also retains the original as-issued “JEB Stuart” M1859 sword hanger which is almost as rare as an 1861 dated sword. Fresh from an estate sale in central Ohio, unfortunately the history has been lost—but from the look of the grip, somebody likely encountered field artillery….
