Description

This old military weapon was converted to cartridge, .44 centerfire, likely in the 1870s era and continued use into the Wild West.  It surfaced at an estate auction in Abilene, Kansas with several other Civil War related items and likely was used by a veteran of the conflict in later life.  The front blade sight is made from a copper coin!  All markings are visible and the action is strong.  The serial number is #57,827 which falls directly in the range of weapons issued to the 22ns Pennsylvania Cavalry in 1863 (#57,745 and #57,851).  More than likely the veteran moved westward after the Civil War but carried his updated and likely very trusted revolver with him.
