Description

Fresh to the collector market after being in the same collection for over 40+ years, this is a great example of the  Pattern 1853 (P53) Tower Enfield .577 rifled musket as imported via the Blockade by the Confederacy in 1862.  It is 100% original and complete and the action is tight and crisp.  The crisp and clear exporter marking of Sinclair, Hamilton Company with a crown is deeply impressed next to the buttplate tang—most times they are barely legible at all!

This weapon shows clear heavy field and exposure use and has an old crack at the wrist, often caused during hand to hand combat when the weapon was used as a club or bat.  It appears to be period repaired and is very solid now.

The Confederacy imported over 500,000+ English firearms from 1861 until around 1864 but the survival rate is less than 5%. If you want a no doubt CONFEDERATE infantry weapon at a price that won’t break the bank, here ya go!
