Description

A very, very early Roby which could pre-date the Civil War as the marking is the earliest known for this company based in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.  The elongate guard and larger pommel is also indicative of a pre or early War example.  It is not dated or inspected and does not retain a scabbard.  The brass ribbed hilt is a little loose but can be tightened if so desired.  This example surfaced in the Nashville, Tennessee area and could easily have been used by a Confederate as well.  Very inexpensive example of a tough to find sword (with the single line marking).
