Description
This is a nice, solid example of the early wartime Plant revolver with brass frame. Brass retains scattered traces of silver wash. It is serial #2451. This firearm has a very crisp maker’s stamp on top of the barrel, “Plant’s Mfg. Co. New Haven, CT.” and an equally strong “Merwin & Bray” stamp on the left side of the barrel. The Patent stamp on the cylinder is light but visible. The grips are very nice overall and the mechanics and action are strong. This is a very nice private purchase Civil War revolver that used a unique patented cupfire .42 caliber cartridge.
