Description
Seldom seen on the loose, this is a complete and fully functional lock assembly from a P53 or P58 Tower Enfield. It is devoid of English or Union proofmarks and likely is Confederate. The date 1862 is very legible and the entire piece is totally untouched with a deep, heavy brown patina. The hammer face is well worn from hard use and the hammer screw is missing. I have seen original mainsprings for these weapons sell for over $150!
