Description

One of the nicest examples of the pattern we have seen in a long while!  This beautiful sword is crisply dated 1862 and was manufactured by the famed Ames Manufacturing Company of Chicopee, Massachusetts.  It is one of the first pure US Government purchases under contract that was delivered for Federal artillery unit issue.  This saber has a 32¼” long, curved, single edged steel blade with a flat top, and a single wide fuller and the original polished cross-hatching at the ricasso is clear and crisp.  The blade retains a high polish and no damage to the tip or edge.  The original leather covered, wire wrapped grip is near perfect as well.  This is a KEEPER class sword, early War, and early contract for Federal mounted artillery troops.
