Description

Not an easy one to find anymore, this fine example by Alex Coppel of Solingen Germany was manufactured for use on the Gewehr 88 rifle as constructed during the early years of WWI.  They were designed to fit both the Gewehr 88 (M1888 Commission Rifle) and Gewehr 98 (M98 Mauser Gewehr 98) German rifles.  This one is a fresh attic find as brought home by a US doughboy after WW1 as a trophy of war.  The blade is near mint as are the grips. The sheath likewise is fine other than the normal surface rust expected on an item over 100 years old.  This thing is MASSIVE!
