Description
This is an exceptional example of the standard infantry weapon of the United States following the Civil War. Chambered in the powerful .45-70 centerfire cartridge, this weapon was known for accuracy and raw takedown power in the field. It is a single shot weapon that utilized the breech trap door mechanism that was standard from 1866 until the turn of the 20th century.
This weapon is fine overall and retains well over 90% original finish. The bore is perfect and the action as tight and crisp as new. It also retains the original socket bayonet and sheath with US rosette mount.
