Description
This is about as close to arsenal mint as you will likely ever find for a wartime infantry weapon. With a crisp marking of NORWICH and 1863 as well as the US and eagle motif, this fine long gun is basically arsenal bright overall. All markings are crisp and the inspector cartouche is so deep you can feel it with your fingertip.
Mowry manufactured 22,000 of these rifles in Connecticut under direct federal government contract in 1863 and 1864 and the weapons were noted as being superior quality. It is an exact copy of the M1861 produced at the US Springfield Armory. If you want a MINTY one, here ya go! Pure museum and investment grade.
