“Big Red One” is the nickname of the 1st Infantry Division of the United States Army. The nickname comes from the division’s distinctive shoulder patch, which features a red numeral one on a green shield. The 1st Infantry Division is the oldest continuously serving active duty division in the U.S. Army.
