Description
Massive handgun which measures about 20.5” overall with a bore of approximately .75 caliber! The underside of the barrel is marked with the proof of Henneberg, Austria and the brass shield at the wrist most likely indicates ownership/unit application. This type of pistol was used by mounted heavy dragoon cavalry officers and used by both Hessian mercenary troops as well as some British Dragoon units in the French and Indian Wars through the American Revolutionary War. It is clearly dated 1750 and is a rare doglock pattern utilizing flint for firing—and is totally untouched and original, right down to the ramrod! It functions properly and for the age, is in INCREDIBLE overall condition—a true rarity of museum and investment quality overall.
