Description

This incredibly rare belt plate was recovered from the Franklin battlefield area many decades ago and is one of less than FIVE known to exist in the pattern!  Similar to a Mississippi eagle plate, this solder filled arrowhead hook is identified by Kerksis as having been manufactured right before the Civil War in 1860 and, due to so few being known, he graded the pattern as a rarity of 9 on a 10 scale.

Personally, I have never seen an example in the almost half a century I have been collecting and dealing in original Civil War artifacts.  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a plate that virtually NOBODY has an example of no matter the size of their collection.

It clearly was an early battlefield pickup and the original tag on it merely states it was found by a “hunter.”  It was recovered on the Old Collins Farm, a site well known to relic collectors in the Franklin, Tennessee area.  The plate was found long before the location became a park.

Collins Farm is a 3 acre Historic Park in Franklin, Tennessee, near the Eastern Flank Battle Park and Carnton Plantation.
