Description
Amazing condition considering this paper currency is 249+ years old! Just in time for the NEXT YEARs 250th Anniversary of the United States of America! This beautiful note is protected in a 1″ lucite block (screw down mount) and ready to display. It measures approximately 2″ x 3″ and is completely legible in all respects. It is hand numbered and dated February 17, 1776. It was printed by David Hall and William Sellers of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Issued under the authority of the Continental Congress, this is a fine example of paper currency from the American Revolution. With no authority to tax, the Continental Congress was unable to prevent deep depreciation of its paper currency, and coupled with the widespread circulation of British counterfeit bills, gave rise to the phrase “Not Worth a Continental.”
