Description

A beautiful example of the standard Union Army eagle breastplate, worn on the cartridge box over the shoulder strap.  This one was manufactured by Boyd and Sons, Boston, Massachusetts 1861-1862 and has both hooks present.  At some point in time, it was HEAVILY silver plated–perhaps for an elite unit, by a veteran or perhaps even a Grand Army of the Republic post display.  Either way, just a beauty to behold!
