Description
100% original Union Civil War eagle breastplate as used on the sling of a regulation cartridge box. This example has an old ink or paint inscription on the reverse “Manasses 1961 H.H.R” and a pin has been crudely soldered on the reverse where the loops once were. The face has been cleaned MANY decades ago and is crisp and a nice brownish patina now, and the solder filled back shows evidence of the plate having been field recovered. Nice original relic from the “Golden Age” of artifact discovery.
