Description
Rare example of the antebellum “Old Wristbreaker” pattern of heavy cavalry sword as made by Ames Manufacturing, Cabotville, Massachusetts in 1846. These swords saw both Mexican and Civil War use and examples are not easy to find. This one is missing the original wire wrap but the grip leather is in fine condition overall. The scabbard was cleaned many decades ago but is 100% original.
