Description

Very honest and authentic WW2 trophy brought back from the Pacific by a local Marine who served from 1944-45.  The pattern is a Type 44 mounted officer grade katana, fully signed and dated on the tang as manufactured in January, 1944.  It is signed Kanesada, generally meaning the blade was smithed in the fashion of the Kanemoto Mino school.  It is a standard shin gunto era sword with the extra leather combat case, all in very good to fine condition overall.  These swords are the last of the true Samurai type blades produced during WW2 by the Japanese.
