Description
One of the most favored handguns of the Civil War, this Colt revolver, chambered in .36 caliber, shows heavy and honest use overall. It surfaced in an estate sale in western Texas. The primary frame number is 145,581 (1863 manufacture) but the cylinder is 64,810 and is from a US martial Colt Navy manufactured in 1856. It is not unusual to find mismatched cylinders as soldiers often carried a loaded spare into battle. The condition overall is a smooth plum brown patina and the action is functional, but the timing spring is weak. This is an honest, hard used weapon that likely saw use well after the Civil War years.
