Description

From a time when kids were allowed to play with dangerous items and managed to survive!  This is a beautiful 1/3 scaled down model of the regulation M1860 Light Cavalry Officer sword likely manufactured in Klingenthal (has a horn grip and red felt throat washer) and imported to the US from the early Civil War era.  The spiral grooved horn grip retains the full original wire wrap and the original scabbard is present.  This was a dandy and expensive item often given to the children of a Union cavalry officer along with a tiny uniform.  Original examples are scarce and uncommon as most are enlisted pattern swords.  A wonderful addition to any serious Civil War edged weapon collection or display!
