Description
Fine and honest example of the most used cavalry sword of the Civil War, the M1860. This example was manufactured under government contract by Emerson and Silver of Trenton, New Jersey, as is totally in untouched as-found condition. The grip leather and wire is 100% original and the entire sword exhibits a mellow brown age patina. Even the original leather throat washer remains intact. Emerson and Silver was one of several contractors who produced this weapon for the Union cavalry. Nice, honest old war horse! There are a few dents in the scabbard but many feel soldiers often added them in the field to ensure a snug fit on horseback. A great addition to any edged weapon collection, if you like them as they were found and not polished or cleaned up in later years.
