Description

Exceptionally fine blade on this crisp example of a bonafide WW2 era Marine Corps officer sword.  The grip is flawless, as is the frosty mint blade, but the scabbard has some pebble graining in the bright chrome finish.  This sword was made circa 1939 by Hilborn and Hamburger who began manufacturing fine Marine Corps and Navy items in 1926.  The blade is nicely etched with the officer’s name, Thomas Dowling Evans who was born in 1897 and died in 1971.  Evans served in the Pacific in WWII and by family history was present at the Battles of Peleliu and Okinawa.
